Meet the Team!

  • Dr. Ramos has been in the dental field since 1982. She was a dental hygienist for two years prior to attending to dental school. Dr. Ramos graduated from the University Of Colorado School Of Dentistry in 1989 and completed an Advanced General Residency Program at the University of North Carolina, followed by Geriatric Fellowship training at Duke and UNC Program on Aging. Dr. Ramos taught Special Care Dentistry at UNC School of Dentistry as an Adjunct Assistant Professor from 1991-94. She also has extensive private practice experience in the Triangle area since 1990.

    Dr Ramos is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of General Dentistry, NC Dental Society, Durham/Orange County Dental Society and the Triangle Chapter of the NC Association of Women Dentists. Currently, she is a member of a Multidisciplinary Study Club and recently completed (along with staff) the Management for Excellence Program at the Schuster Center for Professional Development. Dr Ramos’ focus and passion in dentistry is individualized care for patients, emphasizing patient education to foster true collaboration in achieving optimal health.

    She lives in Durham with her husband and two daughters. When not in the office, Dr. Ramos enjoys running, reading, and serving in her church community and, most of all, spending time with her family. She also enjoys writing educational material for patients and people with special dental and medical needs. Dr. Ramos has published several articles for the public at large to further dental information and health and has also translated extensive dental health information into Spanish.

  • Vicki Farmer, Dental Assistant

    Vicki has been a dental assistant since moving to Durham from Goldsboro NC in 1985. Vicki came to work with Dr. Ramos in 1998. While working for Dr. Ramos, Vicki attended the UNC Dental Assisting Program and completed her training in 1999. Vicki also had seven years experience as an optometric assistant. She is a graduate of the Schuster Center for Professional Development. When not in the office, Vicki enjoys spending time with her husband, son and daughter.

  • Christy VanAuken, Dental Hygienist

    Christy graduated from UNC Dental Assisting Program in 1998. Christy worked for two years as a dental assistant in an endodontic office before deciding to return to school to become a dental hygienist. She graduated from Wayne Community College in 2002. Christy joined the practice in July of 2002. Christy has completed the first year of the Schuster Center for Professional Development since joining the practice. When Christy is not in the office she enjoys spending time with her family.
