Dr. Ramos begins by listening to your concerns, reviewing your individual history and explaining the examination process and diseases that may be affecting you.  Only when your past experiences and dental and medical history is thoroughly discussed is the examination started. Your examination involves you and is not merely the collection of data for the doctor to ponder over. We explain what we see and what is healthy and unhealthy. We call this unique way of examination a “guided tour” of your mouth. Typically on the first visit you have the doctor’s undivided attention prior to any treatment being initiated.

What distinguishes our restorative dentistry in Durham NC is that we do not merely begin dental treatment tooth by tooth as fractures and decay occurs, but we begin with a full guided tour of your mouth to comprehensively access the full function of the whole mouth and surrounding structures.  Dr. Ramos carefully evaluates all the collected data from the exam, x-rays, photographs, laser diagnostic instruments, models and other images and information to develop a long term plan to achieve optimal oral health.

We call this the Master Plan and it may be as simple as cleanings every 6 months to as complex as crowns and fillings, to implants and orthodontic treatment.  The plan may involve other disciplines and Dr. Ramos acts as the coordinator and keeper of the guiding plan.   You can rest assured that treatment is performed with a proactive, well thought through goal of health, not just a “put the fire out” reactive manner.  The goal is that Master Plan is presented and the patient makes informed choices, before treatment is begun.
